Refunds offered for Bunnyrabbit and Jackrabbit program fees
The COVID-19 lockdown, and the recent stay-at-home order, has made it impossible for Waterloo Region Nordic to start our Bunnyrabbit and Jackrabbit programs. The Board has regretfully concluded that it will not be possible for us to offer meaningful instruction to these two sections this year. Families will, therefore, receive a full refund for program fees ($20 per skier) for children who are registered in Waterloo Region Nordic Bunnyrabbit and Jackrabbit programs.
All WRNSC Bunnyrabbit and Jackrabbit skiers have already been registered with our Provincial Sports Organization (Cross Country Ski Ontario) and we have Jackrabbit/Bunnyrabbit hats for them. We are currently planning to distribute these hats at the equipment return event.
Update about Track Attack Jr, Track Attack Sr and Adult Instructional programs
Because of the provincial lockdown and stay-at-home order, Waterloo Region Nordic has suspended in-person programming for the Track Attack sections, and we have not yet been able to start any of the adult instructional sessions. We remain hopeful that we can resume Track Attack in-person activities later this winter, and we remain hopeful that we can provide some instruction to our adult members.
The Board will provide a further update in February. Meanwhile, let’s enjoy the snow while we have it.
Current activities
While all group activities are cancelled or paused, we still encourage you to get out and ski. Skiing remains a great safe activity, provided health guidelines are followed. More information about Rockway covid policies: Rockway Covid Information
There are some creative ways to stay active with the club. All members are encouraged to participate in the XCSO Kilometre Challenge. It is a great way to keep motivated. Your KMs are added to the club total. Waterloo is currently in the top 10 for total KMs!
We are running a series of self recorded challenges. These are a great way to challenge yourself, and possibly win a draw prize (sponsored by Amaryah, Adventure Guide and Insight Eye Care)! More information will be posted as challenges approach. Challenges include:
- THE COVID CLASSIC: Week of Jan 30 – Sprint (Classic Technique)
- THE DISTANCE DASH: Week of Jan 30 – Distance (Freestyle technique)
- THE CLASSIC CLASH: Week of February 13 – Distance (Classic)
- THE ROCKWAY ROMP: Week of February 13 – Distance (Skate)
