Waterloo Region Nordic is pleased to announce that we have snow again on our field loops, and that we will be holding a year-end ski competition on Sunday, March 6 at Bechtel Park, Bridge Street, Waterloo.
Registration runs from noon until 12:30, and then from 1:15 until 1:45. All registered members of Waterloo Region’s youth instructional programs are pre-registered since this is part of our program.
The event will start with a skier-and-parent relay race on a 500m loop. This race starts at 12:30.
This will be followed by a 500m IS race for our bunnies. This age category for non-club-members is year-of-birth of 2010 or later. This race will start around 1:30.
We will be holding a Kings Court-format sprint for jackrabbits and older age categories. Jackrabbits will race on a 500m loop, while older categories race on a 750m loop. This race will start around 1:45. The race is expected to last around 2 hours, but this is dependent upon registration numbers.
Registration categories for the Kings Court sprint are:
A) registered jackrabbits. For non-club-members, this category is open to skiers with a date of birth between 2007 and 2009;
B) registered Magic Rabbits. For non-club-members this category is open to skiers with a date of birth between 2003 and 2006, and
C) older skiers (i.e. With a birth date earlier than 2003)
Depending upon numbers we may combine the ‘older skiers’ with Magic Rabbits for racing purposes. Older skiers will be seeded in faster heats.
The entry fee is free for members of WRNSC youth programs, $2 for WRNSC general members and $5 for non-members.
