Canadian Ski Marathon: Congratulation Team Waterloo Region

This past weekend, twelve WRNSC Instructors loaded up their backpacks to ski the Canadian Ski Marathon (virtual edition) 2022 together!  Conditions were heavy on Friday as the temperature hovered around 0 degrees, and instructors skied 60 kms in wet snow around Wildwood Lake.  Early Saturday morning, the team met up with another CSM team – the Westside Ski Marathoners, to complete a 30 km out and back to a cabin on the Avon Trail.  The course ran through flat fields, forests, over stiles, and steep slopes.  The views were incredible, conversation amazing, food never tasted so good, and after 10 hours skiing together – the determination was dialed in.  A big thank you to Joanne’s sister and family for hosting the aid station at the 30 km point – the campfire, hot soup, chocolate, etc. got us revived and back on the trail for the pursuit back.  On waking the next morning, instructors resolved to never throw down a 120 km over 2 days ever again…but that dissipated by noon.  Team members are stoked for next year, looking to recruit more skiers to join the train.  Congrats to CSM Team Waterloo Region, and especially to Thiago, and Joanne for reaching the Gold and Gold Bar level!
