Renovated and set track throughout the network for classic and skating. The classic track is shallow in spots, especially the woods, as the base is very firm, making a deep track not quite possible, unless I use a pick-ax to loosen the snow more deeply. 🙂 Enjoy the skiing.
We were having technical difficulties with the website, so while grooming started just after Christmas, this is the first update.
I packed the entire Bechtel trail network for skating this morning. No classic track yet, but it will likely be set after the next snow. Expect parts of the trail to drift in with today’s high winds.
Get out there and enjoy the snow!
I touched up the field loops this morning for the youth programs tonight.
Ski conditions are quite good right now. Get out there before the snow disappears again!
Groomed the network this morning and managed to trackset most of the trails. The base is thin in spots but the trails are all snow covered. Get out and enjoy a ski this week as the weekend looks a bit mild.
Conditions: Good Base:less than 5 cm
Managed to pack the field loops this morning but decided to leave the woodland trail alone due to incoming warm weather this afternoon. Will try to do the woodland trail tomorrow morning if conditions permit.
Renovated this morning. No tracks. Suggest you avoid the loop by University Ave on the woodland trail. The woodland trail has a few deep ruts due to water runoff and is bare in spots. The field loops are thin as well. Suggest rock skis if you have a pair.
Conditions: poor Base: not much!
Packed the network and set fresh track on the whole network before the arrival of above zero temperatures.
The next three days will pose some difficulties for maintaining the ski trails as we cannot put machinery on the trails when conditions get near or above zero. That means little can be done again till Friday after a period of cold temperatures.
Conditions:good (but will be deteriorating) Base: 5 cm
That was a pleasant surprise. Packed and set tracks where I could. There are still some grassy spots and the wind was filling in the some tracks as I left at 9AM. The photo below is of the ski school area … just wanted you to know there was a packed oval for the ski school, but with the wind you may need to look for it this afternoon.
the lower field at 9 AM this morning
Conditions: Good Base: variable depth
The trails are hard and fast for skating. Renovated the network this morning and would classify the conditions as fair due to some grassy sections and exposed ground in both the field loop and the “highway hill” on the woodland loop.
Will need more snow to put in a track for classic.
Conditions: fair Base: less then 5 cm
The entire network has been groomed for both skate and classic. There are a few thin spots, so rock skis are recommended, but conditions are quite good. Get your skiing in today before tomorrow’s forecasted rain!
