Registration for the 2017-2018 ski season is now open

It is that time of year when we start to look forward to ski season. Registration for Waterloo Region Nordic membership is now open. To join us, and to register for programs and possibly to rent youth equipment, follow the ‘Programs & Memberships’ tab. We look forward to skiing with you this winter.

We have reorganized the Youth Instruction groups a bit this year, and we have also changed the days and times that instructional groups meet. For details, please see the Youth Programs tab.

Waterloo Region Nordic is entirely volunteer-driven, and we always need help in maintaining and grooming trails, and we are always recruiting individuals who would like to become an instructor.  Basic instructor training will take place at Highlands Nordic on December 8, 9 and 10. If you are interested and want more details, please contact Ken Campbell at kccampbell@golden.net.

Our trail grooming team is also looking for recruits. If you are willing and able to operate our snowmobile, please contact Colin Rhodes for more details, at colin.rhodes@gmail.com.

Volunteers needed to put up snow fencing

The club puts up snow fencing at Bechtel Park to catch snow on the wind blown upper field. We need volunteers next week to help with this task. Skiing the upper loop would not have been possible over the last two years without the fencing.

When: Saturday, November 19 from 9am until 12-noon

What: Release frustration by pounding stakes into the ground and help to attach fencing to those stakes

Where: Bechtel Park, the upper field next to the soccer complex

What to bring/wear: Weather appropriate outdoor work clothing and work gloves
