Second equipment pick-up

In the interest of kids having ski equipment before the snow flies, we are proposing having the second equipment pickup (for the four families who weren’t able to make the original event) the evening of Wednesday, December 4 beginning at 6:30pm.

Where: The club’s storage facility, located on Goudies Lane, between Queen and Ontario Streets.

Please email info@wrnsc.ca to make arrangements.

The 14th annual ski trip to Highlands Nordic (https://www.highlandsnordic.ca/), courtesy of the WRNSC, will be on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Travel will be aboard a comfortable Ayr’s mini coach, which offers the same amenities as the big coaches.

Highlands is a great family destination, with 24 km of impeccably groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. Novice to expert skiers will find a trail to match their abilities. For a different pace, there’s also 7 km of snowshoe trails and a toboggan hill (bring your own toboggan, but no GT Racers or stand-on sleds). The ski centre also provides ski equipment rentals (both classic and skate), pro and service shops (they’ll even wax your skis), change rooms, waxing facilities and a full service cafeteria that offers hot soup and sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and fresh baked goods.

The trip cost includes bus fare and ski trail fee. The fee is non-refundable, unless the trip is cancelled. Advance registration is required. Registration and payment deadline is Friday, January 3d.

To reserve your seats, contact Edith at rogerb@golden.net , indicating the number of participants, with their names, age group, contact phone # and e-mail address.

Make your cheque payable to the Waterloo Region Nordic Sports Club, and mail it to: WRNSC, P.O. Box 40031, Waterloo, ON  N2J 4V1. Please include the number of participants, with their names, age group, contact phone # and e-mail address.

Skiers will be picked up in Waterloo, at Conestoga Mall. Please arrive before 8:00 am for departure at 8:15. Park vehicles at the south-west corner of the mall, south of The Bay. Please park as far away from the building as possible.

The approximate arrival time back to K-W is 5-6 pm (dependent on road/weather conditions).

Equipment Pick-up Day

Our 2019 youth rental equipment pick-up day will be this Sunday, November 17.

Location: Margaret Ave School (325 Louisa St, Kitchener, ON)

Schedule: Track Attack skiers – 1 to 2:20pm
Jackrabbits and Bunnyrabbits – 2:30 to 3:30pm

Track Attack skiers will be separated into four timeslots (1pm, 1:20pm, 1:40pm and 2pm). A separate email will be sent in the coming days with a list of timeslots attendees. It is our intention to accommodate families who have both older and younger skiers in the final timeslot.

Tips:
1. Bring cash/cheque – we have noticed some errors in the registrations that will require reconciliation. It will be easiest if that can be done on Sunday.
2. Bring/wear the type of socks skiers typically wear while skiing to help with boot sizing.

Final reminder: Ski equipment is rented on a seasonal basis and must be returned no later than the club’s Annual General Meeting (held in early spring).
